Mulheres e homens que questionam a sua posição no mundo, e no mundo da arte através da especificidade do seu género (“Numa cultura que é de facto construída pela dualidade sexual, não se pode ser simplesmente humano” – Bordo), questionando pois o que é isto de se ser mulher na nossa sociedade, ser feminino ou masculino.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As artistas (uso o feminino contrariamente à convenção do uso do masculino para designar o plural misto ou o geral, pois apesar de se incluírem homens nesta colecção ela trata maioritariamente de mulheres artistas) que escolhi “coleccionar” são-me próximas, já trabalhei de alguma forma com quase todas elas… acompanho o seu percurso de perto, assim posso dizer que o trabalho delas constrói aquilo que é o meu… &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Após a mostra na Galeria SMS, do Museu de Arqueologia Sociedade Martins Sarmento em Guimarães, a colecção esteve também na livraria 100ª página em Braga. Um ano volvido e parece-me importante reunir novamente estas mulheres em torno da discussão da vivência do género na nossa sociedade. Alargo o grupo e proponho a apresentação de novos trabalhos. Mantendo como fio condutor o inspirador dicionário da crítica feminista (Ana Gabriela Macedo e Ana Luísa Amaral- Afrontamento) usando entradas como: Aborto, androginia, bixessualidade, ciberfeminismo, contos de fadas, corpo, estereotipo, feminilidade, género, imagem, masculinidade, maternidade, patriarcado e prostituição. Encaminhando assim a discussão feminista nas artes plásticas em Portugal.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Se com a afirmação de Beauvoire “não nascemos mulheres, tornamo-nos mulheres” (Simone de Beauvoir 1949) ganhamos consciência da construção do papel feminino contra a ideia de natural, “o nosso maior desejo pode ser ‘transcender as dualidades da diferença sexual’; não ter o nosso comportamento categorizado em termos de ‘masculino’ ou ‘feminino’. Porém quer nos agrade ou não, na cultura presente as nossas actividades são codificadas como ‘masculinas’ ou ‘femininas’ e funcionarão como tal no sistema prevalecente das relações de poder entre os sexos” (Bordo, 1990). Mulheres que vão possibilitar e contribuir para novas maneiras de conceber, materializar, conceptualizar, realizar práticas artísticas. Eu diria até que sem estas mulheres (e apenas como exemplos, diria &lt;a href="http://www.eyestorm.com/feature/ED2n_article.asp?article_id=38"&gt;Marina Abramovic&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://www.centrepompidou.fr/Pompidou/Manifs.nsf/0/B1C23B44F3362BFBC1256EE5002A2D76?OpenDocument"&gt;Gina Pane&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://www.orlan.net/"&gt;Orlan&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://renaseveados.weblog.com.pt/arquivo/167126.html"&gt;Sophie Calle &lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://renaseveados.weblog.com.pt/arquivo/167430.html"&gt;Nan Goldin&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://www.cindysherman.com/"&gt;Cindy Sherman&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://www.karenfinley.net/"&gt;Karen Finley&lt;/a&gt;, entre muitas outras), a arte contemporânea não seria o que é hoje em dia.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Contudo esta entrada de mulheres no mundo da arte, é acompanhada igualmente por uma série de trabalhos (exemplos: &lt;a href="http://www.judychicago.com/"&gt;Judy Chicago&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://www.karen-finley.net/"&gt;Karen Finley&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/benglis_lynda.html"&gt;Lynda Benglis&lt;/a&gt;,&lt;a href="http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/bourgeois_louise.html"&gt;Louise Bourgeois&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/mendieta_ana.html"&gt;Ana Mendieta&lt;/a&gt;, &lt;a href="http://www.barbarakruger.com/"&gt;Barbara Krueger&lt;/a&gt;) que tomam o género como ponto de partida. Igualmente nas ciências sociais e humanas, o género, a partir dos anos 70, começa a ganhar destaque e protagonismo. Com a chegada de autoras como Judith Butler à cena feminista, começa apensar-se o género como performance, a ver o género como algo que se faz e não como algo que se tem. Diz Butler: "Gender is a kind of imitation for which there is no original" (1991).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As performances de género decorrem do sistema assimétrico de género e das normas da heterossexualidade compulsiva, que pressupõem uma maneira conforme às normas para se comportar como homem ou como mulher. Contudo, essas normas podem ser desafiadas e desconstruídas a partir de performances de género subversivas. E que lugar mais interessante para as desafiar que o mundo artístico?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Para além das obras, é igualmente interessante colocar a questão dos discursos sobre as obras e sobre a arte. E o pensamento feminista é profícuo nessa reflexão. Alguns exemplos serão o ensaio de Laura Mulvey  sobre a construção do olhar cinemático, as obras de Griselda Pollock sobre a história de arte contada de uma maneira completamente diferente do tradicional (basta ver-se um manual de referência de história de arte para percebermos que as mulheres são absolutamente excluídas) isto é, sem excluir as mulheres enquanto sujeitos da história da arte, os trabalhos de Peggy Phelan  e de Amelia Jones sobre arte contemporânea e as várias antologias e obras que uma e outra coordenaram... entre outras.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Para além de possibilitar categorias de questionamento e de oferecer pontos de vista diferentes, o feminismo possibilitou novas leituras para o entendimento das obras de arte contemporânea. E se "o feminismo é a noção radical de que as mulheres são pessoas", como dizem as t-shirts da NOW certas obras de arte têm oferecido o espaço para repensar e reproblematizar esta questão, fazendo-nos, a nós feministas, reflectir de formas inovadoras e inesperadas. É pois um diálogo que está a ser estabelecido desde os anos 70, entre feminismo e arte, que tem as vantagens óbvias da polinização e da hibridização de propostas e que a exposição" All my independent ligação entre os elementos utópicos e o feminismo. A utopia feminista, tal como qualquer outra utopia é crítica e profética.
